Tradeviews is built primarily from customs data rather than relying on AIS (satellite) tracking alone. Customs records are consistent and reliable, and each cargo appears twice — once at the country of departure and once at arrival — which makes the data excellent for cross-checking and for analysing seasonality and trends.

AIS is useful for spotting immediate activity, but it's less reliable for identifying the actual cargo carried and the correct volume. For trend and seasonality analysis, customs data is the stronger foundation.

Data is refreshed regularly, with new updates appearing every few days as countries release their figures. Forecasts update automatically as the underlying data arrives — multiple times a week — so you're always working from the latest picture.

It reveals what's being traded, where it's moving from and to, and in what volumes — the foundation for understanding trade flows, identifying structural shifts, and anticipating changes in vessel demand before they show in freight rates.

Yes. Data can be downloaded directly from the web application in CSV format for analysis in your preferred spreadsheet software. Customers with full dry cargo or tanker datasets can also access our client server to build Excel integrations — for example, custom reports using PowerPivot.

Yes. For larger datasets we offer an API and SQL integration, allowing direct connection with your internal systems and datasets.

Continually. We develop the platform around what our customers tell us they need, and release new functionality and upgrades regularly.

Customers with our complete dry cargo or tanker datasets receive training to get the most out of the data. The platform also includes a Knowledge Base with screen tutorials covering basic concepts, page instructions, software updates, technical guidance and trade theory.
